This car started life as a TR7 in 1981/2. Built at Solihull, England, it was beautifully converted to a TR8 spec in the mid 1990’s in the UK using all Rimmer Bros conversion kits. The conversion included a Rover SD1 EFI V8 (216 BHP) engine, Piper 270 cams, modified heads, 4 branch manifolds, twin s/s exhausts, 5 speed SD1 gear box, up rated springs, vented front discs, limited slip diff, mohair hood and cover, re-trimmed interior, sports steering wheel, inertia reel seat belts, 5 14” Minilite alloy wheels and much more. Also, the rear axle has been rebuilt with new carrier bearings and wheel bearings. There is a large history file dating from the conversion. The car was imported from the UK in 2013 and first registered here in Australia by myself. There is no power steering but needle bearings to have recently been fitted to struts. Electronic or hydraulic power steering could be fitted but in my opinion would spoil the car. It drives extremely well with great road feel and goes like a rocket. A much admired car.
